Typically, congregations at least a generation old tend to focus more on the 99 connected with them than those who are not. Unfortunately, they come across as anti-missional and anti-evangelism. They likely did not adopt this attitude intentionally. They believe faithfulness by longer tenured and older people should be rewarded. This is their congregation and they want to be served.
They become vision killers. They especially have a hard time with vision focused on those who are outside the congregation. They have forgotten that congregations primarily exist for people who are not church members and are not Christians.
