Insight 121: Become a FaithSoaring Church By Empowering Women in Ministry

FaithSoaring Churches 100CLRMany more congregations could transform if they would fully empower women in ministry leadership. Women add a quality to ministry leadership that enhances the ability of congregations to transform. Women have gifts, skills, and preferences needed within congregations.

Denying the full expression of women in ministry leadership limits the capacities of congregations. When there is a glass ceiling that denies certain roles of leadership to women, congregations actually create a liability for themselves rather than fully expressing a natural strength already available to them.

What is the next step your congregation needs to take to further unleash this valuable resource?

Insight 120: Become a FaithSoaring Church By Exegeting Your Community Context

FaithSoaring Churches 100CLRCongregations who desire to transform often need to exegete their community context. They once knew what characterized it. Now they do not. They have lost touch. Their community context is no longer framed by the same set of rules they knew years--even decades--ago.

Statistics and maps describing their community context will only take them so far. In-depth sociological, ethnographic, and other types of research may increase their knowledge about their community context. However, these will not increase their experience with their community context. They must immerse themselves in their context. They must engage in a contextual baptism by immersion.

Insight 119: Become a FaithSoaring Church By Launching New Congregations

FaithSoaring Churches 100CLRMany congregations who need to transform have forgotten what it means to be a congregation in the purest sense. The programs and administration of congregational life consume them. One of the best things that can happen to them is to experience congregational life in its pure and simple form.

This may or may not be possible. It may be something they can experience, observe, support, and learn from through participation in the launching of new congregations. Too often we forget the benefits congregations experience when they pray for, work with, worship with, and otherwise support the launch of new congregations.

Insight 118: Become a FaithSoaring Church By Focused Action Into the Future

FaithSoaring Churches 100CLRTo live into a transforming future congregations must take actions that carry them into the future. Actions that affirm the way churches once were are unlikely to carry congregations into the future. Retro worship, programs, and ministries are not the future.  Assuming if we build it they will come will not carry congregations into the future.

The future of congregations is about relationships more than it has been in recent decades. Vision is the most important thing by which congregations can be captivated, but building deep relationships with God, one another and their community context often must come first.

Insight 117: Become a FaithSoaring Church By Focused Prayer About the Future

FaithSoaring Churches 100CLRCongregations focus on what they pray for. When congregations focus on praying about the past that is lost, people who are estranged from congregations, and things that are going wrong in congregations that need to be fixed, then that is what they focus on. These are worthy subjects for prayer, but they do not lead to a positive focused on God’s future for congregations.

Congregations who focus on discerning God’s will for their future and the courage to align what their congregation is doing with that vision, tend to have a forward moving congregation that is making progress towards transformation.
