There is a commercial on television these days where a group of organizational leaders in a meeting decide to have a "blamestorming" session rather than a "brainstorming" session.
Two responses: First, it is not necessarily a bad idea as long as the purpose is to think differently than we might otherwise think to come up with creative ideas. Also, it may show how ridiculous our negative approaches to fixing things can become.
Second, it is unfortunately what too many organizations--may I say congregations--do when a challenge arises in their midst. Rather than brainstorming creative ways forward, they get into a blamestorming session to particularly see who are to be fixed.
What are your thoughts about this?
