At first it may seem a little out of character for a non-profit religious organization focused on increasing the vitality of leaders, congregations, denominations, and parachurch organizations to have a capital fundraising component to its work. But, by looking deeper into the reasons why some clear rationale can be discovered.
The Columbia Partnership at www.thecolumbiapartnership.org, for whom I am a Ministry Partner and the Strategic Coordinator [translated Executive Director] has launched a new service, using experienced leadership, to provide capital campaigns for congregations and other religious non-profit organizations needing to raise financial resources.
One rationale for this initiative is that when congregations and others are raising big bucks, it is necessary for them to have clarity and passion around their eternal mission and empowering vision. Wow! What a great opportunity to work with these clients on strategies to increase their vitality.
A second rationale is that so many congregations and others put structure before strategy. By working with these clients when they are raising capital funds, their campaign can be positioned in a way that empowers and resources strategy before structure.
Third, since we are ourselves a religious non-profit organization, providing capital campaign services assist us in raises the funds we need to operate and provide the ministries around which we have passion.
